CHHMA Spring Conference Recap
We had an excellent turn-out of members last Tuesday, April 2ndat the Mississauga Convention Centre for the Annual CHHMA Spring Conference.
The theme of the conference was the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” and the speakers/presentations provided some key insights into what member companies need to prepare for in the coming months and years.
Once again, to start off the conference, we had one of the senior economists from the TD Bank, Brian DePratto, take the audience through what is happening in the global economy and here at home and TD’s key forecasts and risk factors moving forward. Attendees had a number of questions for Brian to address as well.
The highlight speaker of the day, Janice Stein, Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto, provided a real insightful and eye-opening look into the shifting power taking place globally and the new technological innovations that are coming and what it means for a country like Canada and our businesses.
Our third speaker of the day, Joe Bowen, provided some comic relief and interesting insight into the world of sports broadcasting and what it takes for teams and organizations to be successful as he reviewed his career steps in becoming the radio broadcaster for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The final speaker of the day, Julien Smith, a best selling author and CEO of Breather, an on-demand, flexible office space company, shared his views on what it takes for companies to be successful in today’s and tomorrow’s business world which is constantly evolving.
We would like to acknowledge the CHHMA Business Events Committee for their input and hard work in putting together such a good program: Shelly Mlynarczyk (Henkel Canada), Patricia Noronha (Techtronics Industries Canada), Denise Deacon (Oatey Canada), Patricia Ieraci (The Oneida Group), Jeff Crews (Richelieu Hardware), Paul Huffman (LOCK Search Group), Peter Laing (Recochem), Peter Stojanov (Onward Sales & Marketing), Mark Travers (King Marketing) & David Williams (Hamilton Beach Brands Canada).
